Hello and Welcome
By Darcy

I'm Darcy and have had MS (Secondary Progressive) for 33 years.

This site is a place to share experiences, mine, AND YOURS

I was first diagnosed at Christmas time, decorating a tree. Like a master artist, I closed my right eye and viewed the tree with thumb extended, checking my work. What's this... with my left eye I could not see the twinkle lights, but could with my right! Perplexing!
Next, the headaches and numbness ran through my left side like fire, from head to toe. I saw an eye doctor who was actually the one who made the initial diagnosis, seeing scar tissue already formed on my left optic nerve. (remember, MS is a degenerative condition of the CNS: Central Nervous System). This is known as Optic Neuritis. Charming. I'm learning all of these medical terms...
Then the trips to the neurologist, lumbar puncture (spinal tap), MRI, and a positive diagnosis of MS. Did you have a spinal tap, too? Did you get the "headache" ? Let me hear from you. I was always told, "We do not know why you have MS. Nothing can be done" I was always told, "just go to bed." Now, I love to sleep, but there must be something I can do...
We all know lots more now. The information on the Official Multiple Sclerosis Home page is awesome. While we're busy reading (all there is) about MS, don't forget to bookmark this site for some good positive talk, a hearty laugh at life, and a relaxing break from the heavy stuff. OK? Let's go!
