Hi, welcome back!
OK. I'm out of the closet! I've never been very athletic,
but all my life I've done some kind of stretching, and you
can too! I can't do any pretzel positions or anything fancy.
Just gentle poses and breathing. The point is to start and
keep on going! C'mon - we can do this! |

Yoga,
Make it Your Own
From: Darcy
I’ve been doing yoga and stretching for years. It’s the only
thing that has kept me in relatively good shape, since I’ve never
been too athletic. Just a little bit here, a little bit there. You know
how it feels when you forget to floss your teeth? (Horrible!) Well, now,
if I don’t do a little yoga, I don’t feel ready to go, ready
to start the day. This is the same “hump” that everyone must
go through before learning anything new. Yoga is no different, except
that there’s never any pressure! Now, sometimes I feel I can do
a bit, other days, I skip. Always respect your inner voice! If I don’t
do yoga excersises one day, I try to excersise patience with myself. Do
yoga at your own pace. Feel free to copy my poses or modify them to fit
what feel good to you. Need a simpler version? Yoga poses can all be done
in a chair, sitting on the floor, or outside on the grass if you want!
Borrow what you like, then make it your own!

I do a little yoga every day, if only for a
minute. That's the secret...just keep on, it all adds up. If you're
straining or feeling like it hurts. You're overdoing it. Yoga
is getting in touch with your body and stretching it gently. I'll
be here to help you!

| It's not a stretch ;) to say that people who have
Multiple Sclerosis can really benefit from slow and gentle yoga |
